Who we are
About us
A Tirana-based NGO that believes healthy forests and thriving communities belong together.
People who care about forests, working side by side.
Forestry Association is a non-governmental organisation based in Tirana, Albania. We bring together people who care about forests: foresters, farmers, teachers, students, scientists and neighbours.
We are not a single project but a long-term commitment. We protect what still stands, restore what has been lost and help people see forests as a shared home rather than a distant resource.
To protect, restore and sustainably use forests, together with the communities that live beside them.
Living forests, resilient communities and a society that understands how much it depends on trees.
Our values
Respect for nature
Forests are not only a resource. We act with humility and choose the solution that does the least harm.
Communities first
Lasting change is made by the people who live with the land. We listen first, and we work with them, not for them.
Open and accountable
We say what we do, how we do it and what it achieves, including what did not work.
Knowledge that is shared
Everything we learn is worth more when it is passed on, in schools, villages and online.
Small country, big landscapes.
Albania has mountains and river valleys, Adriatic and Ionian coasts, and forests of beech, oak, fir and pine. Some of its ancient beech forests are part of a UNESCO World Heritage property shared across Europe.
These forests hold back floods, store water, shelter wildlife and give rural families fuel, food and income. They also face real pressure from wildfire, unregulated cutting and abandoned land. That is where we come in.
